Bio:

I live in an old steel town about 20 miles outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with my wife and editor, Lisa. When I write, there’s a good chance that there is a sleeping cat on my lap - stray felines have a way of becoming part of our family.

After graduating from the University of Maryland with a degree in landscape design, I tried my hand at a number of careers, most of which had nothing whatsoever to do with either landscaping or designing.

Always an avid exercise enthusiast, I gradually became aware that I was drawn to the health and wellbeing fields. In a marriage between vocation and avocation, I pursued certification and opened my muscle rehabilitation office (www.themassageinstitute.net). Working with my clients over the years led me further and further into research about the physical, mental, and emotional components and expressions of pain and inspired me to write about my findings and related musings. Writing now occupies a dominant role in my life, but I still spend many of my non-writing hours in my office seeing clients who continue to inspire and inform me.
